The event will exclusively have Knox County employers promoting jobs and internships relevant to college students and soon-to-be graduates. This event is for any college student interested in career opportunities at Knox County organizations and businesses.

Position Title: Crisis Intervention Specialist

Description: In this role, you will be provide crisis intervention services to individuals in community settings in Licking County. Services being a Public Health Officer, with the ability to write involuntary admissions, and completing Hospital Pre-Screens for Psychiatric admissions or community safety plans, as well as mobile crisis services for children and adults. Each staff is designated a specific shift and location, for a 40 hour work week, with the addition of a one (1), twelve (12) hour On Call shift a month, and on a rotation basis to provide a required holiday coverage, once or twice a year. Staff are compensated for On Call hours and overtime for any worked hours during that On Call shift. Each staff has access to the Crisis Supervisor 365 days of the year, 24/7, for consultation purposes, as well as to team members working the same shift. There are no productivity requirements or on going caseloads, and each day is varied, can be fast paced and often very interesting. Opportunities for additional training and advancement in professional growth are available, and encouraged.

Under the general supervision of the Program Coordinator, perform duties associated with Knox Public Health’s teen garden program including:

Supervision & Support: Remain on-site with teens (ages 14-19) at all times, providing guidance, mentorship, and supervision in various settings, including the garden, classroom, kitchen, and farmers market. Foster a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment for all participants.

Program Implementation & Safety: Enforce program policies and safety procedures, including contingency plans for inclement weather and communication protocols for absences.
Facilitate program orientation for teens and their families, ensuring they understand expectations, policies, and safety guidelines. Utilize an evidence-based curriculum to teach participants how to plant, maintain, harvest, and store produce properly. Oversee the distribution of harvested produce to teens, their families, and the public.

Educational Enrichment & Community Engagement: Collaborate with the Knox County Local Food Council (KCLFC) to schedule at least four life skills educational sessions for program participants, bringing in local experts to cover financial literacy, food preparation, marketing, and nutrition topics. Maintain communication with KCLFC to share program successes, challenges, and needs through email and/or phone.

Garden Maintenance & Program Sustainability: Ensure the upkeep of teen garden plots at designated garden sites. Support the KCLFC in evaluating program effectiveness and identifying opportunities for long-term sustainability.

Perform all duties associated with the Knox Public Health Mosquito Surveillance program.

Evaluate possible mosquito breeding grounds. Apply larvicide to roadside ditches, stormwater catch basins, and other standing water areas to control mosquito populations. Set and collect gravid traps in various locations throughout Knox County to capture adult mosquitos for lab testing. Provide education and educational materials to our community members.
